A BASE CAMPO IS...
A SAFE PLACE, A STARTING POINT FOR A CLIMB, BUT ALSO A PLACE OF ARRIVALPLACE FOR REFRESHMENTPLACE TO MEET

What we do
Associazione Campo Base ETSbased in Castel Campo, Trentino, offers respite and relief to adults and children dealing with serious illnesses or psychosocial difficulties through projects that empower individuals, promoting independence, serenity, and self-confidence.ttraverso progetti che valorizzano le persone, vengono promosse indipendenza, serenità e fiducia in sè.
Founded in 2016, the association organizes residential camps and retreats for adults, children, and families, with the goal of creating empowerment programs that foster personal growth, increase self-esteem, and create a support network for participants. On a broader scale, we work to challenge cultural taboos surrounding the disease and the need for psychological support.
We create fun activities for children and adults to promote self-discovery.
Additionally, Campo Base collaborates with schools and institutions in our area to create projects on nature, local history, agriculture, science, social work, and many other topics.
We also organize other cultural initiatives such as shows and conferences on topics related to our values, such as history, nature, interconnection, and interculturality.
Our tools are adventure, play and fun, community spirit, and the well-being that comes from reconnecting with the rhythms of nature. l’avventura, il gioco ed il divertimento, lo spirito di comunità e il benessere che nasce dal riconnettersi con i ritmi della natura.
We are committed to creating projects that are empowering and that encourage growth (but not too much!), independence, serenity, and security for children and adults alike. empowering, encourage growth, l’indipendenza, serenity e la sicurezza for all our participants and their families.
Over the past 10 years, more than 300 participants and nearly 100 volunteers on a national and international level have participated in our projects.
Thanks to the President of the Italian Republic's award to the Honor of Merit to our founding member Marina Clerici, we were part of the projects recommended by the presidency.
Campo Base's projects range from working with children with rare diseases to social work with schools to projects for adults with pathologies.
Why camp?
Our programs are based on the principles of Recreational Therapy, a play-based programming methodology that encourages empowerment and self-discovery (or rediscovery) through fun and new experiences. Terapia Ricreativa, una metodologia di programmazione ludico-ricreativa che incoraggia l’empowerment e la scoperta (o riscoperta) di sé attraverso il divertimento e le esperienze nuove.
The goal is to encourage children and young people to become more independent, while at the same time providing adults with some relief and new tools to take home—first and foremost cheerfulness, which is often difficult to experience with serenity in challenging family situations such as those marked by serious illness.
When necessary, the association’s activities are therefore supported by qualified medical and nursing staff and/or psychological professionals who attend to the guests’ needs 24/7, in addition to staff responsible for recreational activities, all of which are carefully tailored to the guests’ needs.
Our staff also includes consultants and healthcare professionals, psychologists, entertainers, artisans, mountain and sports guides, chefs, and magicians. Specially trained volunteers support the activities, donating their time and talents to our guests.
Contact with nature an important value
Contact with nature is fundamental to the experience of all of us.
Spending time outdoors and maybe even getting their hands dirty isn't always a real possibility for our guests in their daily lives.
As we know from scientific studies and our collective experience, being outside is good for everyone, for the health of both body and mind.
